Mildlife announced for Sun Cycle’s 2021 festival

The day festival has moved from New Year's Day to January 30, 2021

Melbourne festival Sun Cycle is returning for its second year in 2021, taking place in January.

Featured in next year’s lineup are Melbourne funk collective Mildlife, who released their second album, ‘Automatic’, earlier this year. The bill is rounded out by DJ CC:Disco!, C.Frim, Wax’o Paradiso and Izy.

A Welcome to Country ceremony will also be performed.

Sun Cycle, initially a New Year’s Day festival, will take place on January 30 next year, moving from the Coburg Velodrome to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Tickets for Sun Cycle go on sale this Wednesday (December 16) from 12pm AEDT.

Sun Cycle’s lineup reveal coincides with the venue’s Live At The Bowl program announcement. The Music Bowl will be capped at 3,000 visitors at any one time, equivalent to 25 per cent of the venue’s capacity.

Sun Cycle organisers are hoping for restrictions to ease prior to the end of the month.

“The organisers remain hopeful that further regulations will be eased prior to January 30. However various formats are also being considered to ensure a safe and enjoyable event no matter what the circumstance,” a statement read.

Sun Cycle’s 2020 instalment was one of the final festivals to proceed before public gathering restrictions were put in place by the coronavirus pandemic. The lineup featured Sampa The Great, US rapper Freddie Gibbs, DJ Floating Points and more.
