The cover story closely follows the release of her delightfully glitchy debut mixtape, ‘Second Nature’. In her conversation with NME’s Jared Richards, the producer – real name Nina Wilson – discusses her musical roots as an “internet baby” and the inseparable link between her digital soundscapes and the natural world.

“Generally, the music I’ve always found interesting is quite texturally novel, and nature is so unpredictable,” says the Central Coast-raised DJ. “Without getting into the nerdy synthesis stuff, you genuinely cannot get these frequencies in pure synthesised sounds. Elsewhere in the issue, NME speaks to Melbourne R&B singer-songwriter r.em.edy about living with chronic illness and her debut EP ‘Last Summer’, and rising English singer-songwriter Tendai about working with Stormzy only four singles into his career. We also review albums from Taylor Swift, Drake & 21 Savage and Wizkid, and chat with gaming luminary Meghna Jayanth about resisting colonialism in the industry.

The new issue of NME Australia, now available for pre-order, will begin shipping the week of December 12. Six-month and yearlong subscriptions are also available here.

Ninajirachi joins King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Parkway Drive, Julia Jacklin, King Stingray, Sampa The Great, Daniel Johns, Mallrat, Hatchie, Camp Cope and many more as NME Australia cover stars. Explore and get your back issues of the magazine here.
