Palms return with ‘This One Is Your One’, their first new song in half a decade

The Sydney indie-rock outfit will celebrate with a hometown launch show next month

Sydney indie-rock quartet Palms have returned after over half a decade with new single ‘This One Is Your One’. The fuzzed out guitar-pop cut marks the first new music from the band since their 2015 album ‘Crazy Rack’.

“On a super personal level the song is about how rad my boyfriend is. But on a more universal level, I guess it’s about the transformative power of love,” says frontman Al Grigg.

“I know that’s heaps corny, but I feel like I’ve written so many downer songs, it was time to throw a positive one out there.”

‘This One Is Your One’ arrives alongside a music video filmed and animated by SPOD. Watch that below:

‘This One Is Your One’ was recorded with producer Liam Judson (Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Cloud Control) in his Blue Mountains studio.

Grigg says the new single is the culmination a period of personal growth since the band’s last output. “I really feel like I’ve grown so much over the last few years,” he explained.

“Like I’m more me than ever before. In a lot of ways, I feel like I was sleepwalking through life but I hope this song sounds like the rush of waking up.”
