Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are back with new single ‘Pukebox’

The next cut from upcoming album 'SHYGA! The Sunlight Mound'

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets come roaring into the new year with a brand new single, the chaotic but bright ‘Pukebox’.

Out today (January 14), ‘Pukebox’ is the latest track to be released from the Perth outfit’s forthcoming album, ‘SHYGA! The Sunlight Mound’, due out on February 5.

According to a press release, the track was recorded between the home of primary songwriter and vocalist Jack McEwan and Tone City Stuidos in WA.

On the song’s inception and how it ties in with the upcoming album, McEwan said, “‘Pukebox’ was the first song I used as a reference while creating the flavour for the record. I’d had the idea for the track for a while but I never thought it fit the style of our previous albums.

“I wrote the first part in first person, talking about my time at home drinking moonshine and wondering who else was doing the same.

“I compared that in the second verse with a secondary version of myself who I wrote about as a character, a little bit lost, waking up with a hangover in random cities trying to find a meaning while it sailed right past me… slowly going mad through repetitive consumption.”

‘SHYGA! The Sunlight Mound’, the band’s fourth studio offering, will also feature previously released singles ‘Mr. Prism’ and ‘Tally-ho!’.
