Skegss announce new album ‘Rehearsal’, share new single ‘Valhalla’

'Rehearsal' is due out in March

Skegss have announced a new album titled ‘Rehearsal’, and have shared a new single from it, ‘Valhalla’.

The new album, produced by Catherine Marks (Manchester Orchestra, PJ Harvey, The Killers), is slated for release on March 26 via Loma Vista/Caroline.

‘Valhalla’ premiered alongside a music video, which features the trio partaking in an opulent feast before duelling each other to the death.

According to frontman Ben Reed, ‘Valhalla’ was inspired by watching the British historical TV series, The Last Kingdom.

“I learnt more about Valhalla through watching ‘The Last Kingdom’ and it got me brainstorming about the ideology of it, and thought how sometimes in our life we have moments that are pretty perfect – as perfect as what you’d want the idea of your own nirvana to be,” Reed explained.

“Like when you’re having beers with your friends, having big cook ups that are real fun to share. ‘Valhalla’ was based on those experiences, but it’s also kind of cryptically about flying under the radar and avoiding getting into any kind of trouble, and staying healthy enough to keep having those times as you get older throughout your life.”

‘Valhalla’ is the fourth track lifted from Skegss’ forthcoming album, following last year’s ‘Under the Thunder’, ‘Fantasising’, (which charted at number 27 and number 66 on triple j’s Hottest 100, respectively) and acoustic number ‘Wake Up’.
