Skegss announce their first single of 2021, ‘Valhalla’

With a Viking-inspired music video teaser

Byron Bay surf rockers Skegss have announced details around their first single of the year, ‘Valhalla’.

Taking to social media, the band revealed that the song will be released at 12pm AEDT tomorrow (Wednesday, January 27) following a premiere on triple j at 9am AEDT on the same day.

The band also appeared to tease a music video of the song, which marks a huge change of pace for them, with sword fights, Viking helmets and the sounds of a Viking war horn.

‘Valhalla’ marks the band’s fifth single since they released their debut album ‘My Own Mess’ back in 2018. Last year alone saw the release of three singles, ‘Under The Thunder‘, ‘Fantasising‘ and ‘Wake Up‘.

Both ‘Under The Thunder’ and ‘Fantasising’ ranked in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020, at number #27 and #66 respectively. The countdown was ultimately taken out by Glass Animals and their track ‘Heat Waves’.

Despite the circumstances, Skeggs managed to maintain pretty busy throughout 2020. In fact, they were one of the first noteworthy Australian acts to announce in-person concerts back in June of last year, playing five sold out shows in their hometown of Byron Bay.
