In a statement on their Bandcamp, the longtime collaborators said that their debut offering is “more about self-expression than anything else”, and “covers a range of issues and experiences from different times” in the pair’s lives.

In the same statement, the duo described Please Wait as “the culmination of numerous online exchanges and years of sharing voice memos, stems, musical ideas & TikTok links between Ta-ku and Matt McWaters”.
Ta-ku, whose real name is Regan Mathews, dropped his last solo EP ‘Songs To Make Up To’ in 2014. Last year, the Perth-based producer released ‘25 Nights For Nujabes’, a sprawling beat tape dedicated to the late Seba Jun.
McWaters, on the other hand, released a slew of singles this year, including ‘See U’, ‘That Don’t Change’, ‘Falling Upwards’ and the Kerri-assisted ‘Where U Go’.
