Tash Sultana, Courtney Barnett, Baker Boy announced for ‘The Sound’

Airing this Sunday evening

Tash Sultana, Courtney Barnett, Baker Boy and more have been announced for this weekend’s lineup of ABC music series The Sound.

Hot off the heels of a Sydney show, and ahead of their second album’s arrival, the ABC will broadcast a performance from Sultana which was filmed in a hangar at Victoria’s Avalon Airport.

The Sound will also air a segment of Barnett’s forthcoming live-streamed concert at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building. The show takes place on December 17.

Baker Boy will team up with Dallas Woods and Sampa The Great for a live rendition of their collaborative track ‘Better Days’. Influenced by the artists’ backgrounds, the song will switch between the languages of English, Yolngu Matha and Bemba.

Also announced for the episode are Perth drum and bass band Pendulum, Kita Alexander, A. Swayze and The Ghosts, and emerging act Budjerah.

The episode’s tribute segment will bring together Marcia Hines, Russell Morris, Didirri, Andy Bull and Mia Wray to celebrate the life of New Zealand artist Max Merritt, who died in September. Additionally, Do Re Mi’s Deborah Conway will lead this weekend’s ‘from the vault’ clip, dedicated to the Sydney four-piece.

The Sound airs on ABC TV this Sunday (December 6) from 6pm AEDT.

Last weekend’s instalment of The Sound featured a lineup of Something For Kate, Hayley Mary, Ziggy Ramo and more.
