The Rubens drop final single ‘Muddy Evil Pain’ ahead of album release

'0202' is slated for release next month

The Rubens have shared ‘Muddy Evil Pain’, the final single from their upcoming fourth album ‘0202’ before it arrives next month.

The song follows previous singles ‘Masterpiece’, ‘Time Of My Life’, ‘Live In Life’ and ‘Heavy Weather’. ‘0202’ is slated for release on February 12 via Ivy League.

In a statement, The Rubens said the new single was “a good indicator as to how we’ve grown as a band sonically”.

“It’s essentially a folk-gospel song blended with heavily distorted pulsing synths, something we never would have considered doing on our first record but now comes naturally,” they added.

“It’s got so much energy, one we can’t wait to play live.”

Recently, the band also shared details of their “Intimate and Local” NSW album release tour, commencing in Bathurst on February 4. Find the full list of dates below.

In December, The Rubens shared a live performance of their single ‘Masterpiece’, filmed at their bunker studio in Camden.

“The bunker is where we recorded most of ‘0202’ and seeing as we can’t go out into the world, it seems only right to invite y’all inside to hear us play our new one live,” the band said in a press release.
