Per a press release, The Rubens said that ‘Masterpiece’ “is about giving someone up, the doubt and eventual regret in realising you got it wrong”.

‘0202’ hits shelves on February 12 and will be The Rubens’ fourth studio album. The record follows on from ‘Lo La Ru’, which the band released in 2018.
“We’re so bloody proud of this album and the way we created it, and we can’t believe how lucky we are to have made it this far,” The Rubens said of ‘0202’ in a press statement.
“Thanks to all our fans for being there, we can’t wait for you to hear this one!”
The Rubens will tour Australia from April-June next year in support of the album. Their biggest headline tour to date, the shows have twice been postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Before heading off on their tour, The Rubens plan to appear at the Queensland leg of This That festival in February.
Elsewhere this year, The Rubens have spearheaded a number of initiatives aimed at young Australians. In October, the band announced a series of grants for aspiring musicians finishing Year 12 in 2020.
Before that, they partnered with ReachOut and KFC to perform a livestream show, ‘The Informal Formal’, for school leavers whose end of year festivities had been corona-cancelled.
