Tkay Maidza appears to confirm forthcoming collaboration with Yung Baby Tate

Maidza's been dropping hints on who is featured on her new single, out next week

Tkay Maidza is already kicking into gear for 2021 with new music, and she has all but confirmed a featured artist we can expect to hear on an upcoming single – American rapper Yung Baby Tate.

Revealing that she’s got new music next week on Instagram, Maidza began to drop clues on Twitter as to who would be the featured artist on the song earlier this week. Answering a slew of questions from fans, she revealed that the artist is an American female.

Then, she gave a clue “i am healthy i am wealthy i am rich”, which appeared to reference a lyric of Yung Baby Tate’s 2020 track ‘I Am’ alongside fellow rapper Flo Milli.

She then appeared to confirm the collaboration by retweeting a tweet from user @blaquefeen that read, “tkay maidza and yung baby tate got a collab on the way”.

Late last year during a Reddit AMA, Maidza had revealed that her new song would feature a “legend” that had recently appeared on two separate songs by UK female rappers. This checks out with Yung Baby Tate, who last year appeared on Bree Runway‘s track ‘Damn Daniel’ and a remix of Georgia‘s track ‘Feel It’.

Maidza had also revealed that, including the potential collaboration with Yung Baby Tate, ‘Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3’ has a second feature locked in.

In a review of her 2020 mixtape ‘Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2’, NME wrote that it “displays her penchant for flitting between meaningless genres, dipping her toes into what she pleases”.

“This may just be a mixtape, but it bodes well for the future, as if Maidza is cutting her loosies away from a major record, experimenting to see what sticks while garnering a wide audience.”
