Tones and I has dominated the Australian Artists Singles Top 10 list as part of ARIA’s 2020 End of Year Charts.
The singer-songwriter’s hits ‘Dance Monkey’ and ‘Never Seen the Rain’ – taken from 2019 debut EP ‘The Kids Are Coming’ – took out the first and second spots respectively.
‘Dance Monkey’ hit #1 on the singles chart for three weeks in January of 2020 – after spending a record-breaking 21 weeks there in 2019. Additionally, ‘Bad Child’, a standalone single released in March of last year, slotted in at number eight on the list.
It marks the first time there has been a double at the top of an End of Year Australian Artist Singles Chart since 1997, when Savage Garden’s ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’ and ‘To the Moon and Back’ enjoyed the same achievement.
Other songs which made it on the list include Flume‘s ‘Rushing Back’ featuring Vera Blue, The Rubens‘ ‘Live In Life’ and Sam Fischer‘s ‘This City’.
Tones had a good showing elsewhere on the ARIA’s End of Year charts. ‘Dance Monkey’ came in fourth on the overall singles list, behind Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’, SAINt JHN’s ‘Roses’ and ‘Blinding Lights’ by The Weeknd, which took out the top spot.
‘The Kids Are Coming’ also placed on the Australian Artists Album Top 10, at #10.
