Watch Dan Sultan and Leah Flanagan perform ‘Old Fitzroy’ from Sydney’s Orpheum Theatre

Marking the end of 'The Sound' season two

Dan Sultan and Leah Flanagan joined forces for a live rendition of Sultan’s 2009 song ‘Old Fitzroy’ over the weekend.

The pair performed the track from Sydney’s Orpheum Theatre for The Sound: Making Gravy Christmas Special last night (December 20), marking the end of the show’s second season.

Backed by a bassist and drummer, they played to an empty venue bathed in changing shades of neon light. Watch the full performance below:

Sultan was charged with indecent assault in February for an incident from 2008. He cancelled all his upcoming shows due to the charges, which were later dropped in November during a document mid-hearing.

The singer has stayed quiet on the music front through it all, having not released much since last year’s children’s album ‘Nali and Friends’.

He did however contribute vocals to Midnight Oil‘s most recent record, ‘The Makarrata Project’, and cover Nick Cave‘s ‘Into My Arms’ for the ‘Songs For Australia’ compilation album.

Flanagan released her sophomore album ‘Colour By Number’ earlier this year, preceded by the single ‘Linen Girls’.

Today (December 21), she appeared in a cover of Paul Kelly‘s ‘How To Make Gravy’ organised by APRA AMCOS, and featuring a bevy of other Australian musicians such as Benny Walker, Urthboy and Diesel.
