Watch Tash Sultana’s live looping performance of ‘Mystik’ for ‘The Sound’

The musician switched between drums, guitar, bass, saxophone and more during the song

Tash Sultana appeared on ABC’s The Sound over the weekend to perform a live looping version of their 2017 single, ‘Mystik’.

The musician performed the song solo from Victoria’s Avalon Airport last night (December 6), taking over the runway with a vibrant light display and stage set up. Sultana’s multi-instrumental abilities were on full display as they dexterously moved between the drums, bass, guitar, saxophone and vocals that the song comprises.

Sultana has eased into 2020 with four original singles, the first of which, ‘Pretty Lady’, arrived in April. This was followed by June’s ‘Greed’, ‘Beyond the Pine’ in September and ‘Willow Tree’ with Jerome Farah, which landed in October. Sultana also recently announced that their forthcoming album ‘Terra Firma’ is set for release on February 19, 2021.

Sultana was able to perform some of these new cuts live at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on November 28, as part of the Great Southern Nights performance series. They also broke out some old tracks during the set, such as breakthrough single ‘Jungle’ and ‘Gemini’.

Last week, the musician revealed they had teamed up with guitar brand Fender to create their own signature Stratocaster. The cherry-red guitar comes with Sultana’s embossed signature and is available for purchase here.

Sultana was one of many musicians to perform on last night’s episode of the ABC TV program, including Kita AlexanderA. Swayze and The Ghosts, Courtney Barnett and Budjerah, among others.
