The track is set to open the band’s forthcoming album, ‘0202’, and was the fourth single dropped by the band in the lead-up to its release. The record hits shelves on February 12.
Per a press release, the band’s new live video was filmed at their bunker studio in Camden, south-west of Sydney’s CBD.
“The bunker is where we recorded most of ‘0202’ and seeing as we can’t go out into the world, it seems only right to invite y’all inside to hear us play our new one live,” the band said in a press release.

At the time of the track’s release, the band said that ‘Masterpiece’ “is about giving someone up, the doubt and eventual regret in realising you got it wrong”. It follows on from the band’s previous singles ‘Live In Life’, ‘Heavy Weather’ and ‘Time Of My Life’.
Aside from releasing music, The Rubens have kept busy in 2020 by engaging in various initiatives aimed at young Australians. In October, they unveiled a series of grants which hoped to enrich the careers of ten aspiring musicians finishing Year 12 in 2020.
Elsewhere, The Rubens partnered with KFC and ReachOut in September to perform their ‘Informal Formal’ show via livestream. The concert aimed to compensate for Year 12 formals cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
