Xavier Rudd has announced a livestream event to launch his forthcoming tenth album, ‘Jan Juc Moon’.
Titled ‘Brand New Moon: At Home With Xavier Rudd’, the show on Thursday March 24 will see Rudd perform a handful of unreleased tracks from ‘Jan Juc Moon’, as well as the pre-release singles ‘Stoney Creek’, ‘Ball And Chain’ and ‘We Deserve To Dream’. It comes a day ahead of the album’s release on March 25.
Tickets for the digital gig are on sale now from eMusic; $2 from each ticket will be donated to Environs Kimberley, a charity “dedicated to looking after the health of the land and waters of the [Kimberley] region”. In a press statement, Martin Pritchard – the organisation’s director – said Rudd “has been standing up strong for Country and People for a long time”.
Pritchard continued: “[Rudd] carries the message around the world and for him to be supporting protecting the Kimberley and Country generally through his songs is so important to all of us. We are thankful that Xavier uses his talent and passion for the sake of the planet and future generations. This concert will go a long way towards protecting the Kimberley.”
On the significance of ‘Jan Juc Moon’, Rudd said: “I feel like with this record, I’ve been able to be really creative and I’m excited about what I’m making just because I’ve had time. I’ve had the chance to do it all myself, which I haven’t done since ‘Spirit Bird’ in terms of instrumentation and stuff, so I’ve been getting a bit trippy with an analog synthesiser…”
Rudd will support the album with a 33-date national tour, set to kick off in Toowoomba on Saturday May 25. He’ll play a further eight gigs in Queensland, as well as eight in Western Australia, six in Victoria, five in New South Wales, four in Tasmania and one in South Australia. Full details on – and tickets for – that run can be found on Rudd’s website.
