The Avalanches announce first Australian headline show since 2018

Taking place in Melbourne next year

The Avalanches will take to the stage at Melbourne’s Myer Music Bowl in April for their first Australian headline show since 2018.

The group broke the news this morning, locking in April 23 for their return to the Aussie stage. In the years since their last headline show, the duo’s local appearances have been confined to DJ sets and festival spots.

The performance will also be the Avalanches’ first since the release of their 2020 album, ‘We Will Always Love You’.

“Melbourne!! Live music is back!! Gather your favourite people and get ready for goosebumps,” The Avalanches wrote on social media today (December 17).

“We are going to take you on a cosmic journey. Join us at the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl”.

Per their ticketing site, the band will be joined by “special guests” for the show.

Tickets to The Avalanches’ Melbourne show are on sale from 12pm local time on Monday, December 21. Click here to sign up for pre-sale, which is set to commence on December 18.

In keeping with social distancing regulations, tickets can be purchased in groups of two, four or six. As with Myer Music Bowl’s upcoming Live From The Bowl concert series, punters will have the option to sit in private decks, at stall tables or in balcony seats.

NME gave ‘We Will Always Love You’ a four-star review upon its release earlier this month.

“‘We Will Always Love You’ completes The Avalanches’ 20-year triptych on a hopeful note,” the review read.
