The Chats, Skegss and WAAX announced for new Inverted Festival

The new festival celebrates music and action sport together

The Chats, Skegss and WAAX are among the artists revealed for a new music and sports festival, Inverted Festival, set to take place on the Gold Coast next year.

Announcing Inverted Festival today (December 2), organisers revealed it as a merger of the best in punk-rock alongside some of Australia’s best action sports athletes.

The one-day event – due to take place on Saturday May 1, 2021 at Metricon Stadium – will see live music performances sit alongside live action sport competitions in Street Skate, BMX, Freestyle Motocross and more.

Also representing the music element of action sport culture with live performances will be Stand Atlantic, Spiderbait, Trophy Eyes and Fangz.

In a press release, Skegss frontman Ben Reed said, “Inverted Festival seems like it will be the first of its kind in Australia, and we’re stoked to be on the line-up next to our best homegrown Aussie talent.”

On the action sport element of Inverted Festival, six-time X Games Best Trick motocross gold medallist, Jackson Strong, added, “The competition at Inverted Festival is going to be fierce, with the world’s best action sports athletes going head-to-head and I can’t wait to get out to be a part of it.”

Inverted Festival will be one of the first standing music festivals since the pandemic, with more than 20,000 action sport and music fans expected to attend.
