Netflix to premiere new thriller K-drama ‘Gyeongseong Creature’, Claudia Kim joins cast

She joins Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee and Wi Ha-joon on the new series

Netflix has announced Claudia Kim’s addition to the cast of Gyeongseong Creature, as well as that it will be premiering the new thriller K-drama globally.

Netflix is set to exclusively stream the much-anticipated fantasy-thriller K-drama series globally, per a press release on September 28, however details of its exact premiere date have yet to be confirmed by the streamer.

Set in the spring of 1945, Gyeongseong Creature will follow several individuals in the city of Gyeongseong – which was the colonial name for Seoul city during Japan’s rule over Korea at the time – as they go up against monstrous creatures born out of human greed.

News of Gyeongseong Creature’s production surfaced as early as January this year, during which its all-star cast was simultaneously announced. Leading the new series are Park Seo-jun (Itaewon Class, The Marvels) and Han So-hee (My Name, Nevertheless) as its main characters, meanwhile Wi Ha-joon of Squid Game and Bad And Crazy fame was also cast in a supporting role. However, Netflix has since announced on September 28 that Claudia Kim (Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald) will also be starring in Gyeongseong Creature as Maeda, the wife of a powerful official in Gyeongseong.

As previously announced, Park Seo-joon will play the role of Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy man from Gyeongseong’s Bukchon Hanok Village with naturally keen insight, whose personable disposition has earned himself a reputation of being a well-known figure throughout the village. He’s accompanied by his best friend Kwon Jun-taek (Wi Ha-joon).

Tae-sang’s life philosophy changes after he crosses paths with Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee), who has dedicated her life to searching for her missing mother, and is particularly skilled at working with various weapons as a result of her experience of surviving terrible situations.

Aside from the series’ star-studded cast, Gyeongseong Creature‘s screenplay was also penned by Kang Eun-kyung, who was behind the Dr. Romantic series, and helmed by Stove League director Jung Dong-yoon.
