Emily Blunt and John Krasinski tease plot details of ‘A Quiet Place 2’

Will we be sticking with the same family?

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have teased the plot of A Quiet Place 2 after the sequel was given the official go-ahead.

The original, mostly dialogue-free film was released back in April and followed a family who were constantly on the run from murderous extra-terrestrial creatures – meaning that they have to live their lives in almost complete silence due to the beings’ hyper-sensitive hearing, which they use to hunt.

Krasinski co-wrote, directed and starred in the acclaimed horror film, which also starred Golden Globe-winning actress and Krasinski’s real-life wife Emily Blunt.

Now, after revealing that he’s currently writing the sequel, he and Blunt have spoken of what could happen in A Quiet Place 2.

“It’s not like Alien or Jaws where the main villain is the thing you’re repeating; it’s an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Blunt added: “The idea of seeing who these people were before this all happened would be interesting,” revealing that fans seemed more eager to pick up where the first film left the Abbot family.

“I think actually it’s now what’s the next chapter and what happens next,” Blunt continued. “I think people feel very invested in this family.”

Millicent Simmonds, who starred as the couple’s daughter Regan Abbott, said: “One would be looking into the past. Like, how did the aliens come about?” she said, adding that the other would involve a different family “working on the same problems” as the Abbotts’.

“The third idea would be the future: You know, what is the world like after, once the kids are older? Or what happens to the aliens or how do we improve or solve that problem?”

A Quiet Place 2 is set for release on May 15, 2020. Speaking of writing the script, Krasinki said: “[The studio] heard some pitches [for the sequel], and I told [producer] Andrew Form about this little idea and he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”
