Alec Baldwin drops out of ‘Rock Of Ages’ cast

'30 Rock' actor will no longer star in hair metal musical

Alec Baldwin has dropped out of the cast of Rock Of Ages.

The 30 Rock actor had been lined up to play nightclub owner Dennis Dupree in the musical adaptation. The character owns the Bourbon Room club on Sunset Strip, where the story is set.

But now Hollywoodreporter.com claims that Baldwin has decided not to do the movie. No reasons have yet been given for his departure.

Despite losing Baldwin, the Adam Shankman-directed film still boasts a stellar cast including Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta Jones and Malin Akerman. The film is an adaptation from the Broadway musical, which features classic rock and hair metal tracks.

Meanwhile, Rock Of Ages is due to open in London later this year, with previews starting on August 31 at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
