Cult novelist to script the new sci-fi adaptation
Novelist Alex Garland is on the verge of signing up to write the screenplay for Logan’s Run.
Garland is the author of the 1996 novel The Beach – which was later adapted into a film with Leonardo DiCaprio – and collaborated with Oscar winner Danny Boyle on the script for 28 Days Later and, most recently, Never Let Me Go.
The film, an adaptation of George Clayton Johnson and William F Nolan‘s 1967 sci fi novel, will be produced by Joel Silver, and depicts a future world where resources are drained and everyone is euthanised by the age of 21.
Michael York starred with Jenny Agutter in the 1976 film adaptation of the book, where in that production the upper age limit was 30.
