'Stormbreaker' star will play British driver in forthcoming film
Dreamworks have announced that Stormbreaker star Alex Pettyfer will star as racing driver James Hunt in forthcoming biopic Shunt, based on the just-published, similarly-named biography about him.
Shunt: The Story Of James Hunt by Tom Rubython was published on October 1.
Alongside John Palermo (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Pettyfer is producing the new film himself. Deadline.com reports that Dreamworks are currently searching for scriptwriters to adapt the book.
British driver Hunt was Formula 1 world champion in 1976 and his personality helped popularise the sport. Between 1973 and 1979 he drove for Hesketh, McLaren and Wolf, but he was as notorious for his hellraising antics as he was for his exploits on the track.
The driver dated some of the most glamorous women in the world, and had a dramatic rivalry with his teammate Niki Lauda. Later in his career he became an outspoken commentator on the sport.
