Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become a new comic book heroine

The New York Congresswoman will grace the cover of Devil’s Due Comics' latest creation in May

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been cast as a comic book heroine in an upcoming new publication from Devil’s Due Comics.

A cartoon version of the rising Democratic politician, who is the congresswoman for New York’s 14th district, has been depicted on the front of a new comic which, according to its publisher, will be a “satire that takes aim at Washington” and “spare[s] no one.”

Set to hit shelves in May, the cover of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force sees the Representative standing in front of the US Capitol having vanquished a red elephant, the symbol of the Republican party. See the cover, with its tagline “New Party, Who Dis?”, below.

Devil’s Due publisher Josh Blaylock told Comic Book Resources about the motivation behind the comic: “It’s no secret that AOC has become the unofficial leader of the new school, and has sparked life back into Washington and that’s reflected in the enthusiasm on display by the men and women contributing to this project.

“While we all don’t agree on everything, we share a common excitement for the breath of fresh air the new Congress brings. I hope this is as much a cathartic release for readers as it has been for us creators.”

Devil’s Due Comics have also pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez has not endorsed the comic. An alternate cover shows the Congresswoman depicted as a warrior woman, which you can see below.

Elsewhere, Ocasio-Cortez’s recently-proposed Green Deal received an endorsement from Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke on social media last week.
