Amy Adams will play Janis Joplin in new film

Long delayed biopic has been revived

Oscar nominated actress Amy Adams will play troubled singer Janis Joplin in the long delayed biopic of the singer.

The film, titled Get It While You Can, will be directed by Fernando Meirelles, the man behind the award-winning City of God and The Constant Gardener, reports Total Film.

Adams is no stranger to either biopics or musical roles, having sung in Disney musical Enchanted and starred in biopic Julie And Julia, in which she played writer Julie Powell.

A biopic of Janis Joplin has been in the works for the last two decades, with two projects previously not making it to the screen.

Piece of My Heart, starring Renee Zellweger as Joplin was never made. And The Gospel According To Janis, which had singer Pink attached to play Joplin also fell through, despite The Squid And The Whale producer Peter Newman securing rights to Joplin’s most famous songs.
