A photo of an egg has beaten Kylie Jenner to become the most liked Instagram post of all time.
The egg, which can be seen below in all its yolk-filled glory, has attracted almost 25 million likes at the time of writing (Jan 14).
The huge achievement means that it has effortlessly surpassed the reality star’s previous record of 18.2 million likes – which was achieved last February when she announced the birth of her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott.
Although little is known about the identity of the person behind the egg, the account was set up earlier this month with the sole purpose of dethroning Jenner.
Responding to the victory, the egg account wrote on Instagram stories: “This is a madness. What a time to be alive. Thank you so much for all of your support and messages, I’m gonna try and get back to as many of you as possible. But for now I need to sleep.
“It doesn’t end here though, we’re only just getting started. #EggGang. Mic drop.”
But Jenner wasn’t willing to take the defeat lying down and responded with an Instagram video that sees her cracking an egg open on the roadside, which quickly notched up over two million views.
Kylie Jenner’s previous record previously defeated the record held by Beyonce – who had previously achieved 11.2 million likes with her pregnancy announcement in 2017.
NME has reached out to the egg account in a bid to find out more.
