Anthony Hopkins in talks to play James Bond villain

'Silence Of The Lambs' star could play opposite Daniel Craig

Anthony Hopkins is in talks to star as the next James Bond villain.

The Welsh acting legend is apparently being lined up to star opposite Daniel Craig in the next screen outing in the Bond franchise, which has just resumed production.

The Sun quotes sources as saying that Hopkins’ character could even turn out to be a regular in the classic spy franchise.

“The only stumbling block seems to be the number of films he is signing up for,” the source is quoted as saying. “There is a chance the character they want him to play could become a regular feature, like Blofeld [a character who appeared in six Bond films] back in the day.”

The 23rd Bond film, the follow-up to Quantum Of Solace, is being directed by Sam Mendes. Judi Dench will return as M, along with lead actor Craig.
