Watch Arcade Fire’s full Voodoo Fest set, as Win Butler says ‘fuck British Petroleum’

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler used the band’s latest festival headline show at Voodoo Music Experience to slam British Petroleum – and their full set can be streamed online.

The ‘Reflektor’ stars returned to New Orleans for a career-spanning and hit-packed headline show. While earlier the week, the band debuted new material at a secret show, Arcade Fire’s Voodoo show sadly featured no unheard material – although they did include a brief cover of the Ghostbusters theme to celebrate Halloween weekend.

Butler also took the time to address Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion and subsequent oil spill in 2010 – damaging local plant and wildlife in what’s been called ‘the biggest public health crisis from a chemical poisoning in US history’. Last year, BP was ordered to pay $5billion in compensation to the state of Louisiana.

“Whatever BP paid the state of Louisiana wasn’t a tenth of what it should have been,” Butler told the crowd at Voodoo. “Fuck British Petroleum.”

Speaking out for the LGBT community, he also said: “There’s more of us than there are of you. There are more queer than there are straight.”
