Liam Gallagher says ‘fuck you!’ to Oasis fans boycotting Beady Eye

The outspoken frontman also says he doesn't want to be seen as a 'serious musician'

Liam Gallagher has said ‘fuck you’ to Oasis fans who are boycotting Beady Eye.

Speaking to The Quietus, Gallagher had a message for fans who he thinks don’t like Beady Eye because they’re not Oasis. He said:

We’ve made a great rock and roll album but sometimes I feel there’s a lot of people just fucking boycotting what Beady Eye do just for some stupid fucking reason. ‘We’ll boycott that shit no matter what they do because it ain’t Oasis and we want Oasis’ and all that kind of thing. Well fuck you! We’ve experimented or whatever it is, what more do you fucking want?

In the interview the frontman also stated that he had put more time into Beady Eye than he had ever done with his former band. He commented: “It’s certainly not a fucking hobby. I’ve put more hours into this than I have into Oasis and I put a lot into that.” He then explained why Beady Eye had introduced Oasis songs into their live shows after saying they wouldn’t. “I fucking sung on them. I made them. I didn’t write them but they’re a part of my fucking life. I fucking brought them up and I’ve got every right to sing them,” he said.

Beady Eye release their second album, ‘BE’, on June 10. The album was produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek. “I think there’s a lot of magic on this album whereas there wasn’t on ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ – which isn’t to say it was a bad album and I’m not having a dig at it – but Dave Sitek is the bollocks, man,” said Gallagher.

Regarding his string of recent tabloid appearances, including a story which said he drunkenly tried to ride a dog in a pub, Gallagher said: “That’s what rock stars do. I haven’t got a motorbike licence, so a dog it is! I don’t care, mate, I really don’t care. I don’t want to be took as a ‘serious musician’ either. I find that a fucking insult, an’ all. It’s boring and not colourful. I’ll leave that to some other cunt.”

Beady Eye will play live at Manchester Ritz on June 19 before heading to London for a show at Camden Centre on June 20. The short stint will then come to a close in Glasgow at the ABC on June 22. The band have lined up festival slots at V Festival, Benicassim and T In The Park this summer.
