The director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi has confirmed that the late Carrie Fisher’s beloved dog Gary makes a subtle cameo in the sci-fi sequel, after he was initially spotted by eagle-eyed fans.
The French Bulldog was frequently spotted at the late actress’s side before her untimely death last December, often accompanying her both on-set and at film premieres.
Now, director Rian Johnson has confirmed that Gary has become a film star in his own right, after he was initially spotted in a Last Jedi film-still obtained by Empire Magazine.
In the photo, Finn (John Boyega) appears to be have a terse exchange of words with newcomer Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), with Gary watching on as he is cradled in the arms of an otherworldly space creature.

“YES! Wow, good eyes”, Johnson responded to fan Clair Henry on Twitter when asked to confirm Gary’s presence in the film.
Gary now lives at the California home of Fisher’s former personal assistant Corby McCoin – with his antics being frequently detailed on his own Instagram page.
Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the hugely popular sci-fi franchise, also recently revealed how Fisher played an integral role in helping her deal with the overnight fame she experienced following the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.
Meanwhile, Fisher’s last screen appearance will come in the form of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is set to finally hit cinemas next week after months of fevered anticipation.
