Director says he has a "great ending" for Christian Bale's caped crusader
Director Christopher Nolan has spoken out about The Dark Knight Rises by revealing that the forthcoming film will bring Bruce Wayne’s story “full circle”.
In an interview with Total Film Magazine, Nolan said that his Batman franchise had always focused on the development of the caped crusader, portrayed by Christian Bale, and hinted that the final part in his trilogy of films would bring closure to his narrative with a “great ending”.
“Our telling of the Batman legend has always been centered on Bruce Wayne’s story,” he said. “We somewhat left the audience hanging at the end of the last film in terms of Bruce’s story and we want to bring it full circle and have a complete tale. We’ve a great ending we’ve been wanting to tell for some years now. We’re just thrilled to have been able to bring our story around to its conclusion.”
The Dark Knight Rises is released on July 20, and is the third and final Batman film by Christopher Nolan. The movie will see the Liam Neeson reprise the role of Ra’s Al Ghul alongside a returning Bale, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine.
