Clint Eastwood‘s Hereafter film has been pulled from Japanese cinemas due to the recent earthquake and tsunami in the country.
The film, directed by Eastwood, features scenes of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that killed more than 230,000 people.
But as relief efforts in Japan continue Warner Brothers have taken the decision to remove the film from theatres, reports BBC News.
Hereafter opened in Japan last month in around 180 theatres, and had been scheduled to run until the end of the month.
The studio has also delayed the opening of horror movie The Rite, starring Anthony Hopkins.
A statement from Warner Brothers reads: “In deference to the tragic events unfolding in Japan we have pulled Hereafter from the theatres and will postpone the Japanese release of The Rite to a later date.”
