A crew member has died on the set of the new Johnny Depp film, The Lone Ranger.
The unnamed man, who was a diver working on an underwater scene on set in Los Angeles, drowned, reports TMZ.
After it was spotted that something had gone wrong in the tank, 911 were called, but by the time the emergency services arrived on the scene, the man was in full cardiac arrest. He was taken by helicopter to hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Production is currently underway on the film, which stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, and tells the story of a masked crimefighter (played by Hammer) and his sidekick Tonto (played by Depp). It is based on the popular television series from the 1950s.
The film is being directed by Gore Verbinski (Rango, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) and Jack White will write, produce and perform the soundtrack to the Disney adaptation.
