'Slumdog Millionaire' director says he's interested in returning to his zombie franchise
Danny Boyle is reportedly interested in directing a second sequel to his 2002 zombie drama 28 Days Later.
A script currently exists under the unofficial title 28 Months Later.
According to Dreadcentral.com, Boyle was asked if he wanted to produce the new film, but instead declared: “Actually, I want to direct it.”
The project has been considered since 2007, with Russia believed a favoured setting.
Boyle did not return for the first sequel, 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, but the Trainspotting director has mentioned in the past that he would be interested in directing a third film.
“It’s to do with Russia actually… not France,” he has previously said of a third film’s plot. “The second film hints that it gets to France eventually, and wipes out the French. But this third idea is actually more to do with Russia, but that’s actually all I can say.”
Boyle’s next project is a theatre production of Frankenstein, while true story climbing drama 127 Hours is released on November 5.
