You can now take a David Lynch-taught online class about ‘Creativity and Film’

The 13-lesson tutorial is part of the star-studded 'MasterClass' series

A class taught by David Lynch about ‘Creativity and Film’ is now available to take online.

The acclaimed director, artist and co-creator of Twin Peaks has partnered with MasterClass Online Classes to offer the new tutorial. The organisation also offers classes taught by the likes of Natalie Portman (who teaches a session on ‘Acting’), Timbaland (‘Producing and Beatmaking’) and Jodie Foster (‘Filmmaking’).

You can now enrol in Lynch’s 13-class course, which promises to provide students with an insight into the filmmaker’s “cross-disciplinary creative process” with lessons on such topics as ‘Casting for Character’, ‘On Set: Creating a Happy Family’ and ‘Working With Actors’.

“Learn how [Lynch] catches ideas, translates them into a narrative, and moves beyond formulaic storytelling,” a description of the ‘Creativity and Film’ class reads. “Embrace the art life in David’s MasterClass and learn to test the boundaries of your own artistic expression in any medium.” Check out a trailer clip for Lynch’s online course below.

The class will set you back £85 on its own, or you can take it by signing up to a subscription service (£170) which grants you access to every other MasterClass session as well.

Back in November, it was reported that Lynch was in the process of raising funds to adapt Alan Greenberg’s 1983 novel Love in Vain: The Life and Legends of Robert Johnson for the big screen.

An adapted screenplay of the book, which looks into both the wider story and the myths surrounding the legendary Mississippi Delta blues musician Robert Johnson, has apparently been left untouched for years.
