David Tennant reveals that he’s only just discovered what the aubergine emoji means

He learned "the hard way"

David Tennant has revealed that he didn’t know what the aubergine emoji meant until he attended a recent training session about sexual harassment.

In a new interview which you can see below, the former Doctor Who star said he had no idea what the emoji meant until he watched the training video.

“Remember the eggplant [aubergine] emoji is not just an eggplant,” Tennant said of the video. “And that was it, no explanation, just that. I went ‘What?'”

He continued to reveal more about the training: “Stuff like it’s bad to touch somebody on the bum and all that, and course, sure.

“You’re starting with a new company, here are the rules…I mean, imagine I was just saying ‘Do you want some eggplant for dinner?’ and suddenly I am up against a tribunal. Now I am terrified!”

Aside from learning about emojis and their connotations, Tennant is launching a new podcast called ‘David Tennant Does a Podcast With…’.

Jodie Whittaker is expected to be a guest on the show, as well as his former Broadchurch star and new Oscar nominee, Olivia Colman.

Last year, Tennant was a special guest for for The Muppets’ live shows in the UK alongside Kylie Minogue. The puppets, who were originally created by Jim Henson in 1955, appeared in the UK for the first time last year.

Tennant appeared as The Doctor and was reunited with Minogue, who appeared in Doctor Who, once more.
