Fans spot ‘Futurama’ Easter Egg in Matt Groening’s new Netflix show ‘Disenchantment’

A blink-and-you'll-miss it glimpse of the 'Simpsons' creator's future-set series appears in the new episode 'Dreamland Falls'

Futurama fans have spotted a Futurama Easter Egg in creator Matt Groening’s new Netflix show, Disenchantment.

The new series, which launched on the streaming service on Friday (August 17), is set in a medieval fantasy kingdom and features the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre and Nat Faxon in the lead roles. A second 10-episode season has already been ordered by Netflix.

Viewers of Disenchantment have been quick to spot an Easter Egg in the first season’s closing episode, ‘Dreamland Falls’. The scene in question sees Luci the demon offering King Zog a glimpse of historical events in Dreamland using a magical ball.

The ball’s magic powers briefly throw up a hardly-visible glimpse of Futurama‘s Fry, Bender and Professor Farnsworth sitting in a time-travelling spacecraft, which featured in the season six episode ‘The Late Philip J. Fry’. See an image of the moment in question below.

Since the Easter Egg was unearthed, some fans have been discussing the possibility of a full Disenchantment and Futurama crossover occurring in the near future.

Groening has been known for bringing his various creative universes together, most notably in November 2014 when characters from Futurama and The Simpsons appeared together in ‘Simpsorama’, which was part of the latter’s 26th season.

Over the weekend, a piece of 3D Simpsons fan art went viral due to the artist’s haunting depiction of a “real-life” Homer Simpson.
