Fans have shared their thoughts on Jodie Whittaker’s first appearance on Doctor Who.
The actor was named as the 13th Doctor earlier this year, marking the first time a woman has played the iconic character.
Whittaker made her first appearance in the long-running BBC show in today’s (December 25) Christmas special, which also saw Peter Capaldi bow out of the role. Capaldi’s Doctor regenerated during the episode, introducing Whittaker, whose first words were: “Oh, brilliant.”
Fans seemed pleased with their first look at the 13th Doctor, reacting on Twitter after the programme aired. “Wow omg that was brilliant loved the regeneration scene I can’t wait for the new series Jodie I think you are gonna do an amazing job,” wrote one fan.

Another added: “Yes, I’ll have a series of this please. Quickly.” More viewers praised the BBC for allowing Whittaker to keep her Yorkshire accent, while others were impressed with Whittaker despite her only have a brief part in the episode.
