Sequel to 1990 action-comedy reportedly in production
25 years since the release of beloved Arnold Schwarzenegger action-comedy Kindergarten Cop, it appears as though an unlikely sequel is in the pipeline. Only this time it stars another muscle-bound European action hero, Dolph Lundgren.
Manly Movie has obtained shots of Dolph on the set of the forthcoming movie, with filming currently underway in Vancouver, Canada. According to the website, Kindergarten Cop 2 will be directed by Michael Don Paul (Jarhead 2: Field of Fire) from a script penned by David H. Steinberg (American Pie 2), and the plot is said to follow Lundgren’s character and his sidekick Sanjit as they attempt to locate a missing flash drive from the Federal Witness protection program that has somehow ended up in the possession of a kindergartener.
Lundgren is undoubtedly best known for his roles in Rocky IV (1985) and Universal Solider (1992). Having worked mostly on B movies for a number of years, the Swede is enjoying a bit of a renaissance at the moment. Having starred in the Expendables trilogy in recent years, he is due to appear in the Coen Brothers’ next movie, Hail, Caesar!.
A release date for Kindergarten Cop 2 has not yet been announced.
