Donald Glover has today launched a new partnership with Adidas.
After giving out pairs of shoes to some festival goers at Coachella last weekend, Glover today (April 18) unveiled the first shoes as part of the “Donald Glover Presets’ line in collaboration with Adidas.
The collection, which will be available from April 26, “reimagines” three classic Adidas styles, the Nizza, Continental 80 and Lacombe.
The products were launched in a series of comical clips starring Glover and comedian Mo’Nique. You can watch a compilation of these here:
Meanwhile, fans have spent the last week reacting to the release of Glover’s alter ego – Childish Gambino’s – collaborative movie with Rihanna, Guava Island. The pair put out the film last week(April 12), half an hour into Gambino’s headline set at Coachella.
Fans have taken to social media to share their opinions on the movie. “Tha flavor, the music, the colors, Donald Glover, RIHANNA,” wrote one person. “Everything about #GuavaIslandis exquisit.”
Reviewing his recent show at the O2, NME said: “This is Donald Glover’s world, and we’re all just living in it…Swapping one strong political statement for another, ‘This Is America’ later stages its now-customary mass dance-off and sets up an arena-wide moment of exhilarating catharsis.
“…Before we get any time at all to catch our breath, we’re then awarded with a stunning four-song encore…before it’s left to Glover, who takes one final lap of the arena, to deliver one final sermon: “This is church: I do not put on a concert. This is church!” Praise be indeed to Childish Gambino.”
