A darts fan has admitted that he struggled to walk after sliding down a London Underground escalator, smashing his private parts into an emergency stop button.
Freddie Andrews, 22, took the ill-advised short cut as he headed home to Kent after downing 10 pints at the PDC Darts Championship on Wednesday.
The Asda worker’s daring trip at London Bridge station was then posted on Twitter by a friend – racking up a million views and 200,000 retweets in less than 24 hours.
The wince-inducing footage shows Freddie crashing into an emergency stop button before he flies off the end of the escalator and collides with another commuter.
“I was that drunk – I’d had about 10 pints – the escalator was free and I thought, ‘why not?’”, Freddie told the Evening Standard.
“It was faster than I thought it would have been. But as I was sliding I couldn’t stop myself and had no choice.
“I did regret it.”
Despite feeling no initial pain, Freddie admitted that he was barely able to walk the following day.
“I was so drunk I did not feel a thing until I woke up yesterday and could not move”, he added.
“My family think I was an idiot. But now it’s happened they think it’s really funny. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else though.”
