Edgar Wright to team up with Johnny Depp on new film following ‘Ant-Man’ departure

Director will reportedly move on to 'Kolchak: The Night Stalker'

Edgar Wright is reportedly set to direct Johnny Depp in Kolchak: The Night Stalker after his departure from Marvel’s Ant-Man last week.

As reported, Wright officially left the feature film of the Marvel comic book hero last week with Marvel and Wright issuing a joint statement confirming the move. It is believed that creative differences between director and studio are behind the split.

However, Deadline reports that Wright will commence work on the remake of 70s movie and series Kolchak with Depp set to play the titular detective.

A script written by script by D.V. DeVincentis (High Fidelity, Grosse Pointe Blank) is believed to be in “strong shape” though production may have to wait on Depp, who is currently filming his role as Whitey Bulger in Black Mass and is due to film another Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Kolchak: The Night Stalker is owned by Disney, who also own Marvel – the same studio Wright clashed with over Ant-Man.
