Elbow, Kylie Minogue, The National, The Wombats and more to play Manchester’s huge Sounds of the City gigs

The Castlefield Bowl's annual run of gigs returns next summer

Organisers behind Manchester’s Sounds of the City have announced the headliners for their run of 2019 shows, which will take place at the city’s 8,000 capacity Castlefield Bowl.

The new batch of gigs will begin with The Wombats on July 6, followed by a set from Greater Manchester’s own Elbow on July 9.

As previously reported, The National announced that their July 10 show will be their first UK date of 2019, while Kylie Minogue will return to the UK the following night.

Completing the bill are The Kooks, who’ll play alongside The Sherlocks and Sea Girls on July 12, and a closing set from Hacienda Classical, re-imagining iconic hits from the city’s most famous club on July 13.

Pivotal Detroit electronic band Inner City will support Hacienda Classical, while the likes of former New Order bassist Peter Hook will also DJ on the closing night.

Tickets for all the shows go on sale at 9.30am this Friday (November 30) and will be available to purchase here.

Hacienda Classical also played Sounds of the City in 2017. That year the likes of Rag N’ Bone Man, The Levellers and Shed Seven also played the Castlefield Bowl.
