20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios rumoured to have discussed superhero crossover

The two studios could be planning on a X-Men and Avengers film

Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox could be planning a superhero crossover movie.

Between them, the two film studios are home to many comic-book favourites. Among Marvel Studios’s stable of characters are The Avengers, Thor and Ant-Man, while 20th Century Fox hold the rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool.

A new rumour has suggested that the two studios have discussed collaborating on a film that will see their respective superheroes team up on the big screen for the first time.

Matt Key, producer of director Kevin Smith’s Fatman on Batman podcast, claimed that Fox have reportedly expressed an interest in working with Marvel.

“I’ve heard from a few of my sources, my little birds, that Fox and Marvel have… kind of talked, but not really, but like there’s interest from Fox, like, ‘Ooh, y’know, what they did with Sony and Spider-Man is actually pretty cool, like, maybe…,” he said on the latest episode of Collider Heroes.

However, Key cautioned that “We’re years away from that ever possibly happening… but I think that’s what it would take… Fox joining hands with Marvel…”

Earlier this year, Spider-Man appeared in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War following a deal with Sony Pictures, who own the movie rights to the character.
