A ‘Deadpool’ sequel is reportedly already in the works

Comic book movie starring Ryan Reynolds opens in UK cinemas today (February 10)

A sequel to Deadpool is reportedly already in the works at Fox.

The R-rated comic book movie starring Ryan Reynolds opens in UK cinemas today (February 10) and then in the US on Friday (February 12), but according to The Hollywood Reporter Fox has already given a green light to a follow-up.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the screenwriting duo behind Deadpool, are said to be writing the script for the follow-up too. Though Deadpool director Tim Miller has yet to sign on for Deadpool 2, Fox is apparently keen to bring him back.

Ryan Reynolds recently revealed that he wants to play Deadpool for the rest of his life.

The long-awaited Deadpool movie sees Ryan Reynolds flanked by a supporting cast that includes Haywire‘s Gina Carano, former Homeland actress Morena Baccarin, Game Of Thrones veteran Ed Skrein and Silicon Valley star TJ Miller.

The film’s official plot synopsis teases: “Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humour, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”
