Adam Sandler sets new record for Razzie nominations

Comic actor receives 11 nods at the alternative Oscars

Adam Sandler has set a new record for Razzie nominations, receiving 11 nods at the spoof Oscars.

The nominees for the 32nd Annual Razzie Awards, honouring the worst performances in film, were announced on the eve of tonight’s (February 26) Oscars.

Leading the pack of nominations with 12 nods, including worst film, is Sandler’s cross-dressing comedy Jack & Jill.

Sandler has been nominated for both Worst Actor and Worst Actress awards for his role portraying both title roles in the film. Katie Holmes and Al Pacino, who has a cameo in the comedy, are also nominated in the Worst Supporting categories.

Joining the list of worst film nominees are New Year’s Eve, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.

Elsewhere Russell Brand, Nicholas Cage, Nick Swardson and Taylor Lautner have been nominated for the worst actor award while Martin Lawrence joins Sandler on the worst actress list for playing a woman in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.

Originally presented the night before the Academy Awards, this year organisers have moved the event to April Fool’s Day (April 1) to allow more time for voters to cast their ballots.

The winners will be determined by members of The Golden Raspberry Foundation.
