‘Anchorman’ sequel confirmed by Will Ferrell

The comedy star announces that he will reprise the role of Ron Burgundy

A sequel to Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy has been confirmed.

Will Ferrell announced that he will return as the 1970s San Diego TV news anchor from the hit 2004 comedy, while appearing on Conan O’Brien‘s chat show. In character as Burgundy in a pre-recorded segment, Ferrell revealed the news.

He said: “I actually have an announcement. I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK – including England – that as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman.


“It’s official! There will be a sequel to Anchorman. There will be a sequel.”

According to Deadline, Adam Mackay will return to write and direct the sequel, while Judd Apatow is once again on board as producer. Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell are also tipped to reprise their roles as field reporter Brian Fantana and weather presenter Brick Tamland.

There is no word yet on whether Christina Applegate will return as Brugundy’s co-anchor Veronica Comingstone, or whether David Koechner, Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller, Seth Rogen, Vince Vaughn or Jack Black will return..
