Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh tease Golden Globes hosting duties in new promos

The annual awards show takes place on January 6

Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh have teased what to expect from their turn hosting the Golden Globes in a series of new promo videos.

The pair will present the annual awards ceremony on January 6, following comedian Seth Meyers’ hosting gig at the 2018 event.

With the ceremony approaching, the duo have appeared in two new promo videos, which you can watch below. In one, they attempt to perform a “best friends handshake” with disastrous results, while the second sees them breathily reel off a list of words relevant to the night, such as “celebrities” and “gold”.

The full list of nominees for the Golden Globes 2019 was announced earlier this month (January 6). Among those in the running for the awards are Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for their performances in A Star Is Born, Kendrick Lamar for his contribution to the Black Panther soundtrack, and Donald Glover for Atlanta. You can see the full list of nominees here.

Meanwhile, the Oscars are reportedly considering having no host for the 2019 event after Kevin Hart pulled out of the ceremony. The actor had been announced to take on the role when homophobic tweets from eight years ago resurfaced online.

In a statement on Twitter, Hart apologised to the LGBTQ community for his “insensitive words from [his] past” and said he was stepping down because he didn’t want to be “a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many talented artists.”

The Academy is reportedly now struggling to find a replacement and is said to be considering “a bunch of huge celebs, something SNL style, and buzzy people” rather than one or two hosts.
