The game is being turned into a 3D computer-animated movie due out in 2016
The Angry Birds movie has found its screenwriter.
The game’s makers, Rovio Entertainment, announced plans to turn Angry Birds into a feature film last December (2012). The 3D computer-animated movie will fly into cinemas in July 2016.
Now Jon Vitti has been hired to write the screenplay, Deadline reports. Vitti is the second most prolific writer in The Simpsons‘ history with credits on some 25 episodes.
Over the years, he’s also written for The Office and King Of The Hill, as well as serving as a story consultant on several computer-animated movies, including Ice Age and Ice Age 2.
Since Rovio launched Angry Birds in 2009, the game has been downloaded over a billion times. Spin-off versions have included two with a movie theme: Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Star Wars, which came out last November (2012).
