Aquaman 2 is officially going ahead, after the original film went on to become the highest-grossing DC movie of all time.
Rumours of a sequel began circulating before the original film even came out. Warner Bros. were so confident Aquaman would be a hit at the box office, that plans for a second installment were already in talks.

Now, it’s been confirmed that the original film’s co-writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been hired to begin work on a follow-up.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, James Wan and Peter Safran are currently in talks to return as producers. However, it’s unclear whether Wan would return to direct the sequel.
Last month, Wan responded to the Aquaman Oscars snub after the superhero epic failed to secure a nod in the VFX nominations.
The DC Comics movie was left in the cold when the special effects category was announced, alongside the separate nominations for Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Score.
As ScreenRant first revealed, Wan posted a message on his Facebook page that toasted the success of the film – before he received a congratulatory response from visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain.
Wan wrote in response: “Kelvin, you and your department are the unsung heroes of this film. The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren’t recognizing or appreciating what we/you’ve all contributed to the film and cinema is a f****ing disgrace”.
Although Wan’s movie didn’t make the cut, VFX nominations were bagged by the likes of Avengers: Infinity War, Ready Player One, Welcome To Marwen and Mary Poppins Returns.
